I was inducted as an Honorary Member of Golden Key in 1988, and have been the Golden Key Chapter Advisor since 1991. I began my college teaching and administrative career after finishing a B.S. Degree in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Oklahoma. I served in the U. S. Army in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. After 13 years of work at the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, where I earned a Master’s Degree in Advertising and Journalistic Management, plus a Doctorate In Higher Education Teaching, I joined the faculty of the UF College of Journalism and Communications in 1966. I progressed through the College from Assistant Professor to Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus having served as the first chairman of the Department of Public Relations in the College and helped establish its reputation on the national and international level. In 1974 the department was the eleventh PR department to win world-wide accreditation. I later served as Assistant Dean, then Associate Dean of the college for five years, then established the Office of Student Services in the college, which I ran for ten years, prior to returning to teaching. I retired June 30, 2003, after 50 years of college service in Oklahoma and Florida. I have been active in Golden Key on the national level, having served two three-year terms on the National Council of Advisors. I am presently working half-time for the Department of Housing and Residence Education and live at the Lakeside Residential Complex, where I serve as the Faculty-in-Residence person. I do academic advising at Lakeside by appointment and on a walk-in basis. I also have walk-in advising hours from 2 to 4 p.m. on Mondays at Murphree Commons Area each Monday. I have advising hours from 2 to 4 pm at the Springs Complex, 2nd floor commons area, each Tuesday, and advising hours from 2 to 4 pm at Beaty Towers Commons area each Wednesday. I will have the same schedule during the Spring 2010 semester. Hi! I was inducted into Golden Key in the Fall of 2005, and served as P.R. director before I was elected President. After serving as president for the 2007-2008 school year I still couldn't get enough of Golden Key! So I've stayed on as our chapter's Graduate Advisor. I am pursuing concurrent degrees in the Master of Science in Sport Management and Master of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management programs. One day I hope to manage a multi-purpose collegiate arena. |

Hi! I am your Golden Key International Honour Society president for 2009/2010. I joined becuase I really enjoy each of the events and all of the members. It is great to have so many close friends on campus that share the same values and that seek the same goals that I do. This year is my last year at UF, but I hope to make the most of it. This year, we will have great intramural teams, service projects and events, so come out!! Go Gators :) |

I am currently a third year accounting major, and I plan on doing the 3/2 program to get my master's degree. I'm originally from Port St. John (30 minutes north-west of Cocoa Beach), but I've fallen in love with the Gainesville area and UF! I love meeting new people, so don't be shy. I will be applying to Medical School in June with the hopes of specializing in Trauma Surgery or Oncology.
